Motorhome Repairs & Servicing

Who We Are

At Eye Commercials we understand motorhomes, and we’re not just saying that. We’ve worked closely with a number of very experienced motorhome owners to understand what you want and need, what your concerns are, and most importantly how we can meet and exceed your expectations.

We have hands-on experience from Tony, our workshop manager, who is the proud owner of an Autotrail, to our very highly trained team of technicians. We make sure we stay in touch with the motorhome community through our local sponsorship of The Motor Caravanners’ Club.

We know that your motorhome isn’t just another vehicle, it really is your second home with all the emotional attachment therefore, we understand that keeping the van clean inside and out is just as important as doing the technical job right. We ensure we use plenty of seat covers, floor covers, and where needed furniture covers to make sure no oil or grease get into the living area of the motorhome.

When we’re not working on it we’ll make sure it’s parked in a safe and secure place. As well as our large workshops we have a secure compound so your motorhome will be kept out of harm’s way.

We’re easy to find and easy to access. Transport arrangement can be arranged on arrival whether that be a lift to the local train/bus station or home.

Motorhomes are fundamentally different from the commercial vehicle chassis’ they are based on. That sounds simple, but according to our experienced motorhome owners it’s rocket science to some workshops out there.

The base vehicle may have an extended service interval, but that is based on assumptions that simply don’t apply to motorhomes. Unlike its commercial cousin, your motorhome isn’t used daily or even weekly, and its always fully loaded. These things make a major difference to how components and fluids wear and deteriorate. And that’s before we get onto all the different chassis types that are in use including factory-fit camper, AL-KO, etc.

We have over 30 years experience of working on motorhomes. We know what needs looking at and when. We understand it’s a complete vehicle, not a separate chassis and body, with no-one looking after the oddities such as the AL-KO back axle. We’re fully equipped to deal with all the complicated matters, timing belts and suspension, for example, that many other service centres don’t want to encounter.

We understand that a warning light on the dashboard doesn’t just mean get the code reader and replace a part. We have the expertise to get to the heart of the problem, find out what is causing the warning and deal with the problem at source.

When you first contact us we won’t just book you in for a basic service. We’ll take the time to understand you, your motorhome and its history. We’ll work with you to create a service schedule that covers everything that is needed, including a full professional safety check.

How many miles a year do you cover? It makes a difference. Fortunate enough to spend time driving in the Pyrenees or Alps? Long hot summers on sandy and windy beaches? All these and many other factors have an effect on the mechanical side of your motorhome that a ‘standard’ service won’t adequately deal with.

We understand and can make sure that your motorhome is serviced with the care and professionalism it needs, all at a cost that will be much lower than you expect.

Tyres are a big issue for motorhomes as they rarely wear out. It’s not uncommon to hear of people having blow-outs and finding out that the tyre is 10 or 12 years old. These structurally unsafe tyres can do a lot of damage to the ‘van bodywork when they blow, as the rear wheel arch is usually very flimsy and inside the body of the vehicle, and of course a blow-out can ruin a holiday before it begins.

We offer a visual safety inspection on all motorhomes and air conditioning checks and repairs are also available. Even the best maintained vehicle can suffer from an unexpected failure that’s impossible to fix at the roadside. So if the worst happens (and we really hope it doesn’t) it’s good to know that we’re here for you pretty much around the clock. We’ll do our very best to get your pride and joy back on the road as soon as possible.
